School Safety Program

Love Thy Neighbor partnered with the Trenton School District, the American Red Cross of Central New Jersey and the New Jersey Coalition of Automotive Retailers to offer American Red Cross safety programs in Trenton-area schools. Last year, the New Jersey Department of Health reported that the leading cause of death among young people between the ages of 1-24 was due to unintentional injury. One out of every 10 calls to local EMS personnel is for an emergency involving a child. First aid skills are of paramount importance in our communities. Educating people in the appropriate skills to prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies can and will decrease these numbers.

DNA - Dad Needs Assistance

DNA is a fatherhood mentoring program developed in collaboration with Trenton, New Jersey-area social workers, community leaders and school faculty. Love Thy Neighbor’s mission is to promote positive involvement and interaction between fathers and their children, and to increase the ability of fathers to meet the social, emotional, financial and educational needs of their children. The DNA program began in October 2004 with the teen population currently attending Trenton Central High School. In September 2005 the second phase of DNA was launched including single fathers ages 18-30 from the Mercer County the community and ex-offenders re-entering the community after being incarcerated.

Seed, Feed and Grow

Seed, Feed and Grow is an elementary school enrichment program developed by Love Thy Neighbor program developers and advisors. The program encourages children to imagine, dream and explore while learning and establishing a love for their education. Seed, Feed, and Grow takes a comprehensive approach to supporting the childhood education experience in schools of need.

Love Thy Neighbor uses current public school system proficiency standards to consistently evaluate the success of the Seed, Feed and Grow program.
